Music

Music is an essential part of every student's life and culture. Through a creative learning process, every child has the opportunity to experience music from various cultures, improve fine & gross motor skills, strengthen vocal abilities and appreciate working within an ensemble. The ISA Music Curriculum develops the whole child, giving many opportunities to perform and create music. We foster the belief that every child can achieve musical success.

Elementary

Music has a strong presence in the ISA Elementary School. Children begin their musical experience in Preschool meeting one or two times a week through to Grade 5. Every child has the opportunity to create and perform vocal or instrumental music. Children have the opportunity to begin their instrumental music experience in Grades 4 & 5 as a member of a concert band.

Children perform at weekly assemblies as members of a musical ensemble or as soloists. The music department collaborates with colleagues on thematic materials studied within the grade level curricula, incorporating music as a learning tool.

Every child has the opportunity to study vocal or instrumental music privately at ISA.  Private tuition is encouraged for every interested child.
