IB Diploma Requirements

All IB Diploma candidates are required to take one subject from each of the groups. At least three and no more than four of the six subjects are taken at the Higher Level, the others at Standard Level. ISA offers many subject options at both levels.

Each examined subject is graded on a scale of 1 (minimum) to 7 (maximum). The award of the Diploma requires a minimum total of 24 points and the satisfactory completion of three additional requirements.

The Extended Essay of 4,000 words provides students with the opportunity to conduct research in an area of interest.

A course entitled Theory of Knowledge (TOK) explores relationships between the various disciplines. It encourages students to engage in critical reflection and analysis of the knowledge acquired within and beyond the classroom.

The CAS program (Creativity, Activity and Service), complements a challenging academic program in a holistic way, providing opportunities for students to think about their own values and actions, to understand their place in the world, and to shape their identity.
