Local Aberdeen Summer Activities to Keep You Entertained!

Summer is here!

Although things are looking a little different for many of us this year, don’t fret… staycations are the new vacations! Here are some of our favourite things on offer in Aberdeen to keep you busy this summer.


1. Murder Mystery Treasure Trails.

Calling all the budding detectives… explore Aberdeen on a self-guided Murder Mystery themed tour. As you follow the trail, find the clues on buildings and monuments to eliminate the suspects and uncover the culprit. With routes across the city and shire, treasure hunts for pirates and missions for spies, there are loads of options… check it out here.


2. Adventure Aberdeen Snowsports

It may be summer, but at the Aberdeen Snowsports Centre you can still enjoy a day on the slopes. With tubing for all ages and lessons for all levels the Snowsport Centre is the perfect activity for thrill seekers. Find out more here.


3. Hazelhead Park

With a huge verity of things to do at Hazelhead park, there is hours of fun to be had… Surrounded by woodlands with lots of cool paths and trails, it is a great place to go for a walk or cycle. Inside the park there are beautiful gardens, big fields, and children’s play parks. Why not even try a new sport… footgolf! A fun game for the whole family using the skills of football on a specially adapted golf course located at the Hazlehead Golf Complex. Score all the information on footgolf here.


4. Aberdeen Science Centre.

With so many amazing things to explore there is something for everyone at Aberdeen Science Centre! Why not test your problem solving, pressure management and teamwork skills by going along to the Super Solvers: Virtual Escape Room event, On the 26th of July? Help the science centre get their robot, Robothespian, up and running again by solving puzzles and answering questions to reveal pieces of the missing code, hidden throughout the Science Centre.

5. Art Gallery

The gallery is a great place to spend a rainy-day seeing creations from a verity of artists, grabbing a spot of lunch, and taking in the views over Aberdeen from their top floor balconies. From Saturday the 10th of July you can go and see their latest exhibition, ‘British art show 9’, a collection of contemporary art from around the UK. Click here to discover more.


6. Get Active with Sport Aberdeen

Adventure Aberdeen, part of the Sport Aberdeen charity, are offering a huge range of adrenaline pumping outdoor activities for kids between 5-17, running throughout the summer. From mountain biking, beach activity days to stand up paddle boarding and river canoeing. Check out all the activity days here.


7. Old Deeside Railway Line

Starting at Duthie Park, the Deeside railway goes 7 miles out to Peterculter and then beyond, a great trail to take the bikes out for a day. pack a picnic and enjoy the historic path. Click here to see the route.


8. Nuart

Explore the streets of Aberdeen and go on an art hunt to find all the Nuart and painted doors dotted round the city. Nuart Aberdeen 2021 will run throughout June and July with artists from all over the world producing work throughout the city. Turn it into a fun game and see how many the little ones can spot or use the map, here, to check them all off.


9. Transition Extreme

Fancy learning something new… Transition Extreme has Skateboarding, BMX, and climbing lessons all in one place for you to choose from. And for those who just want to practice their skills you can go along for a session and do your own thing. Click here to get booked today.


10. Dolphin watching

Head over to Torry battery for some dolphin spotting! With panoramic views of the harbour mouth and the North Sea, Torry Battery is the perfect place to spot nature.
