Meet the Summer Camp Counsellors

It's almost summer, so we thought meeting our School’s Out Summer Camp 2022 counsellors would be a great way to get you even more excited about the camp!

As a way of getting to know them better, we asked them three questions and here is what they had to say...


Laurie Allardes


1. What made you want to be a camp counsellor?

It had always looked fun to me and being at ISA summer camp since 2018 has definitely proved that! I also enjoy working with children & I am graduating this year in PE teaching so it’s a great experience for my future career

2. What are you most looking forward to at the Summer Camp?

I am most looking forward to meeting all the campers - old and new! I am excited for all the fun activities, catching up with the counsellors, and the BBQ of course!

3. What is your favourite sport?

My favourite sport is athletics! I used to compete in the 800m when I was younger.


Grace Morrison


1. What made you want to be a camp counsellor?

I used to go to the camps as a child and I always absolutely loved it, so I wanted to pass on the same fun and enthusiasm to the younger generation. I also am currently studying PE teaching at Uni, so it is providing me with great experience for the future!

2. What are you most looking forward to at the summer camp?

I can’t wait to get back and meet all the campers and catch up with all the other councillors. I also always love the circus so very excited for that too!

3. What is your favourite sport?

My favourite sport is hockey, I’ve always loved playing it and I am currently playing for Stirling University!


Heidi Bourne


1. What made you want to be a camp counsellor?

I love teaching and working with young people! I also love teaching sports, so this job was a no brainer for me!

2. What are you most looking forward to at the summer camp?

I’m so looking forward to working with everyone (campers and counsellors)

3. What is your favourite sport?

Favourite sport is netball!


Mark Wood


1. What made you want to be a camp counsellor?

Last year was my first year at camp and I enjoyed working with all the staff and attendees. So much fun each day - especially joining in on Mat Ball in the sports hall.

2. What are you most looking forward to at the Summer Camp?

Playing drama games with the attendees.

3. What is your favourite sport?

Ooooooohh tough one used to be football but after last year MAT BALL! :)


Ella Murray


1. What made you want to be a camp counsellor?

I am currently at university studying to become a PE teacher; therefore, I am passionate about working with young people and want to ensure they make lots of fun memories during their summer holidays!

2. What are you most looking forward to at summer camp?

Learning how to unicycle and meeting all the children.

3. What is your favourite sport?

Netball


Daniel Hatfield


1. What made you want to be a camp counsellor?

I want to be a camp counsellor because I enjoy all sports and activities. Summer camp gives me the opportunity to stay as active as possible, whilst having a lot of fun with the campers and the other counsellors!

2. What are you most looking forward to at the Summer Camp?

I am most looking forward to winning Mat Ball.

3. What is your favourite sport?

My favourite sport to play is football however I enjoy trying out a bit of everything.


Caroline Reid

1. What made you want to be a camp counsellor?

I wanted to be a camp counsellor because my summers growing up were always spent outdoors with lots of activity, and I wanted to be able to give more people the same opportunity to have a fun summer in as much sun as Scotland will offer!

2. What you’re most looking forward to at the Summer camp?

Being able to work with the other counsellors again and try some new activities with the kids that we weren’t able to do last summer (slip and slide)!

3. What is your favourite sport?

Skiing
